Hello, Yes you will have to pay to get it removed unless you are unemployed or are on a low wage. Are you sure it isnt yours (not suggesting it is but a company would usually have to show proof of the debt to the courts before a CCJ was issued). If you have high mortgage and loan interest rates then you must have known that something was wrong with your credit when you took them on? I dont know if the court will set aside your CCJ because it has already been granted by the courts but you should ask who obtained the CCJ (what company) and challenge it from there. If you can prove that it will cause you financial hardship you will be able to receive financial help with the costs but you will have to fill in an income and expenditure form. If it is a genuine mistake then you have nothing to worry about and apart from a bit of hassle it will be sorted. If you find out it is yours somehow then you have just alerted the courts to your new address and will probably have to start making payments on the CCJ.
