Dear ,
Thank you for playing the National Lottery via your online account.
World Pay, the company that handles Camelot's Debit Card transactions, has recently confirmed that due to technical issues they have been experiencing the funds we requested from your bank over the period 1st July – 20th July did not reach us. This has not had any impact on your ability to play the National Lottery as, at the time, the transactions were approved but not collected.
By way of confirmation, if you check your bank transactions between 1st July – 20th July and compare this with your online account you will see that they have not left your bank account. The amount that was not taken between the above dates will be debited via your registered Debit Card on 1st August.
We apologise for the inconvenience caused.
Yours sincerely,

I rang them up and they say it has affected everybody who plays online yet Mr BD has not received an email. When I checked my bank statement they are correct that two payments have not gone out and they are going to take them on 1st Aug. It is only a small amount in my case but may cause some people problems if they are not expecting it. Find it all very strange. Who are World Pay and do they handle payments for any other companies?

It operates throughout the world (but particularly in the UK and USA) and provides payment collection services to both online and High Street retailers. (If you pay for a cup of coffee with a contactless card there's a very good chance that it's WorldPay who are processing your payment. Similarly if you buy something online your payment might well go through WorldPay, which is one of the UK's 'Top 100' businesses (in the FTSE index).
The company is about as trustworthy as it's possible to get but even they can have problems with their computer systems, as Camelot has told you:
