Not being au fait with all this monetary stuff, what do you think I should do with my Euros, and no I'm giving them to you :)
I was going on holiday with some friends a few months back and drew some out. Unfortunately one of the company fell ill and we postponed. When he was back on his feet we decided to not go so far. We were off to Portugal but settled on the Czech Republic. I kept the Euros expecting to be off to Portugal quite soon but I'm afraid the same chap is now so poorly that he wont be going abroad again.
So, with all the hoohah about Sterling crashing and the Euro maybe imploding, whats best to do? Should I cash them in? Should I keep them? Or should I hang on and see if we manage to get away in the next few months (sadly without the friend)?

I'd hang on to them. They may be worth more than a pound shortly:

As an aside I'm a bit puzzled as to why you think the Czech Republic is closer than Portugal. Assuming you are in Britain.

It's about 500 miles nearer give or take isn't it. It only took 1.5 hrs to get there and it was 2 to 3 hrs when we went to Portugal if memory serves.
It was the travelling time for him that we took into account.
Anyway thanks for the info.

I certainly bloody hope so as I'm sitting on 18k which was meant to be an investment but which actually now is getting smaller and smaller.

Some days i really hate politics.

Oh dear Bighamish, and I'm only talking about 600 or so!!
G'night all.

Bighamish, I don't understand why you feel your euros are falling in value. Assuming you have had them for at least four months or so and that you are comparing with Sterling then you have gained handsomely (well over 15%) in that sort of period, far better than any deposit scheme for Pounds in the UK where it might take you nearly a decade to get there. Or are you perhaps washing them weekly and then they are physically shrinking ?
Euro notes are paper, not plastic, so are more likely to disintegrate than shrink; like the fiver allegedly does.
hang on to the euros, they's worth more now (against the pound) than when you bought them. The euro's not going to implode any time soon (though five years from now I don't know).

Got any friends travelling to Europe who might like to buy them from you at today's rate? You should make a tidy profit.
