I sold ebay item to a buyer in Canada using a tracked courier.
The courier has tried to deliver the item several times and left notes but there is no one at home to accept the delivery. Now they say the item will be returned to me.What happens now, if I get the item back do I have to resend it? , it cost over £35 to send. Do I get to keep it ?
As well as the courier leaving notes I have emailed the buyer and sent eBay messages no reply.
Yes I did check with the buyer that the address and post code were correct and gave her the tracking code. Can't find any information on eBay's help pages.

I have the buyer's phone no but I don't want to call Canada on my mobile, perhaps I'll send a text. It was an expensive item a Silver Plated Cutlery set £76, so I can't see why the buyer is not responding
I would contact eBay, starting here:

Ellipisis, Thanks, Yes I saw that but it does not say anything about my problem.
I have posted a question on eBay's message boards in the 'International Selling' section , no reply yet but I'll let you know.
I have now sent the buyer a text as well, no reply, so they can't say I have not tried everything to get the parcel to her!
Yes, from the link I posted, I thought you'd end up at the bottom "Contact Customer Service" area.

It gets more curious, the buyer has now replied to my text and says she was in all day both times the courier said they tried to deliver, but no one called at her house. I have already emailed her a photo of the package with the address label and she has confirmed the address is correct!
You need to contact the courier that delivered the package in Canada which may be different to the one that picked it up in the UK. It would be helpful if you could get your buyer to do the same. Ebay will treat this as item not delivered and you will have to refund the buyer in full and try and claim back the postage costs from the courier.

^ You can put multiple tracking codes on eBay now. I have put the tracking code of the Canadian courier who is making the delivery on the listing. It clearly says they have tried and failed to make the delivery. I can't see how eBay can blame me!
Sounds like either the courier is delivering it to the wrong place, or your buyer is lying to you.

If the buyer is lying you're a bit stuck. You're relying on the courier providing proof that they delivered to the buyer's actual address (e.g. a photo of their front door).

I would still contact eBay customer services.
EDDIE Ebay always support the buyer, its ridiculous. If the item is still with the courier then there is a chance they will give it another go or can you persuade the buyer to go collect it? IF the item is not delivered then the buyer can start a case in the Resolution centre and you will eventually have to refund her plus the original postage costs. Then you will have to start a claim through the postage service you chose.

Dazzelflash , Sorry but I have seen the eBay only support the buyer argument 100s of times.
Where it may have been true in the past it is not now!
I have 100% positive feedback of 988 ! They do listen to what I say about buyers and I have had several decisions in my favour. They have even removed negative feedback that was unfair without me needing to ask!
EDDIE please do not try and take out your frustration on me I am just trying to help. FWIW I have been trading on Ebay since 2006 and have 1248 100% positive feedbacks a few more than you! I sell all over the world an a Powerseller, Top-rated seller and provide an Ebay Premium Service and know how Ebay works.

Solved now, she has the item. Her area, Nova Scotia is so large and the houses so spread out that her post box is 1 & 1/2 miles from the actual house! She only goes to the 'local' post office to collect any item not put in her post box once a week as it is 15 miles away!
Question Author
Dazzelflash, sorry no 'put down' intended. It is just that in my experience eBay is a lot less biased towards buyer's now .
Perhaps that's just me though.
Phew! Glad that out sorted out for you ,big relief all around.
Do you think it might have saved a lot of hassle if she'd told you all that in the beginning? Seems like a lot of stress for £76.
Question Author
Yes most of my eBay stuff goes abroad, 75% goes to the EU especially Italy for some reason , sent 5 items there this month.
Only problem is that post to Italy and Spain is taking 3 weeks and buyers complain of slow delivery, when it is out of my control.
Question Author
Zacs, Yes this one was stress it took 3 couriers, one for the UK leg, one for UK to Canada via Belgium and one in Canada , but normally selling abroad is no worse than selling inside the uk. eBay accepts multiple tracking codes now to allow for this sort of thing,
