Workforce Pension - Opt-In Query...

If an Employee earns over £112 per week they can now choose to opt-in to pay at least 1% of their Salary into their pension - the new laws on Workplace Pensions and the Employer has to contribute too. WHAT if an Employee does NOT earn over £112 per week? - CAN they still opt-in to pay into the Pension themselves without the Employer having to contribute? Or do they not even get the option to do so? Thanks

If your employer doesn’t have to enrol you by law, you can still join their pension scheme if you want to. Your employer can’t refuse.
However, they don’t have to contribute if you earn these amounts or less:
£486 per month
£112 per week
£448 per 4 weeks
