I just pulled one of the new £5 out of my pocket to pay for something and found it had torn in a jagged line down the middle. I'm not sure how it happened as they're quite hard to actually tear.
Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Is it fake?
nope.

Was about to ask that Q too - is it a fake?
That's strange.....two people I know have put them through the wash and they came out perfect...

I hate them....they're slippery and have to be put in the zippy bit of my purse or they slide out.....when they bring in the £10 I'll be sprinkling cash everywhere.... :-(
am adding myself to the list of gness stalkers
last i heard she didn't even bother paying her bar bill
which explains why she'll be sprinkling tenners everywhere......
Now you can buy two items at £2:50
You can move to the front, Albs..... x

Oh I know, Ael.......that was embarrassing......and even worse...the following week I met a friend for lunch and drinks.....opened my purse to pay and hadn't put any cash in it....if I carry on like this I'll either be very rich...or have no friends left..... :-(
quite a trick, sprinkling tenners...
It is, Fluff.....just looking for the right music to accompany me... :-)
If you are sprinkling Tennas, may I suggest a Little Water Music ?
Is it only ladies that sprinkle tennas ?
That'll do, Ferlew!..... :-)

OG....I think you can sprinkle tennas to if you wish...... ;-)

Sorry, Ludwig.......your thread seems to have gone off somewhere else..... :-(
I hate these ugly new fivers. Before they were issued I'd read that there was plastic involved in their manufacture (fair enough, makes them harder to counterfeit) but was unpleasantly surprised to find that they feel almost 100% plastic, and are difficult to stop falling out of pockets etc. On two separate occasions recently I've found one in the street. I suppose the new tenner will be the same.
Perhaps a few tenors with can help with music gness?..
Exactly, GG......early on before I twigged I was surprised at only one in my purse when I was sure I had two......then I realised it had most likely slipped out......now they're zipped in and spent quickly....x
Ooooo......Patsy....I know a fantastic tenor......perhaps he'll serenade me.....mmmmmm......xx
They're a pain. I work in an amusement arcade, and sorting the notes is difficult with the plastic fivers. Once they've been bent they don't lie flat and slide all over the place.

I don't know how you managed to tear one. I've just tried and it seems impossible.
Well I hated the old paper fivers - almost always filthy, manky and looking like they had been in many a jeans pocket
How many Jeans do you know Hoppy?

I always thought the paper fivers ironed quite nicely after they'd been washed and dried :-D
