Just Paid For A Courier To Ship A Medium Size Parcel In Uk - Paid, Then Found Out It Then Had To Go In Cardboard Box Not Plastic !!

Hi good AB'ers , just paid for a courier to ship a medium size parcel in UK to UK , one of the BIG well known companies - Paid on line - then found out it then had to go in cardboard box NOT plastic !! Found out after packing it in plastic sealed secured but not acceptable as not a cardboard box. How can I find out in future before paying for it as you normally wrap it to weigh it, before paying on line for shipment , annoying .. trust you will understand - thanks good AB'ers GL.

You know now that it has to be cardboard so wrap future parcels that way.
In the meantime put your plastic package in a cardboard outer and send.

That's certainly an odd requirement! Nearly all of the parcels I send are wrapped in rubble sacks, secured with gaffer tape. I've never encountered any specific rulings about the type of packaging before.

It would be useful to know which company you're referring to and also what you consider to be a 'medium size' parcel.

Hi thanks Buenchico ( all ) , that's what I thought ; 'odd' after payment , - mentioned on label,paperwork etc. after payment !.. > £10 fine !!if not, already packed, NEVER mentioned before, only after payment - parcel 19KG 40 cm square , UPS, collecting from elsewhere in the country ( main town ) and parcel being delivered to me. Contacted support at above, 21 hours ago just asked why ? , no reply yet to date .. could be just a money making venture for above .. regards
