I got married to a soldier and spent nearly 3years abroad. He convinced me to use all my money and savings up to pay some of his debts. On top of that, he treated me quite bad. Trying to put up with him led me to depression. For 2 1/2 years I fought really hard to save our marriage, but failed. I've been told that I could have a divorce on the grounds of unreasonable behavior, but I wouldn't be able to get any money off him. Is this true?

Nothing until a divorce is decided:

If you have assets together you will get at least half in a divorce settlement further to that you should also get some form of maintenance (alimony- US) and a share of any future pension. I think a good divorce lawyer would be helpful to you here.

You would only be entitled to 2 years worth of his pension and any lump sum that he gets. You could try for maintenance (sp?) but if you are young they may say that you could get job and support yourself. Get yourself a good solicitor!
