emmie the cups are recyclable. There was an interesting bit on Breakfast Time. There are two plants in the UK which can recycle them; the issue and expense is in getting hold of the cups in the first place because they need to be disposed of separately from other rubbish as picking adds costs and potentially pollutes the recycling, and transporting them to the plants who currently have spare capacity.
