The job of speaker is to be fair. It does not mean he cannot hold any views personally, and it would be impossible to find anyone for the role who had no views on anything.

I'm not saying he can't have any views Gromit, just that he should be impartial when doing his job. He said on TV that he was a Remainer. As for being Tory, that awful wife of his turned him a long time ago.

when he turned up in the Lords there was a certain amount of - "what are you doing here for chrissakes?"
and of Lord martin as he now was - saying "that was the deal boys"
