New Data Protection Laws.

I enquired at the ICO yesterday about this because our naval association holds personal details of over 550 members. My golf club holds similar records. Fortunately, we do not have to register, as in both instances we are classed as "not for profit organisations". The upgrades to this law are meant to enhance everyones' privacy and prevent unwarranted disclosure of personal details. I made the point (not the girls' fault. She only deals with enquiries.) that this is hypocritical of a government pretending to be concerned about privacy, but willing to disclose our personal details to any parking company in return for a fee. Where is the safeguarding of details then? Parking companies have nothing to do with government business and access to personal details by them should be blocked. How would they carry on their business, I hear you say? Barrier control is one option. And don't moan about long queues at car parks because driving anywhere in this country is like trying to get into a car park anyway. It'll be just another crawl that we do every day.
