I may need to transfer around 10,000€ as a holding deposit on a property in Ireland - obviously I'm doing all the 'due diligence' about account references and the security of my cash. Nothing will happen without the go ahead from my trusted solicitors in Ireland - in fact my preference will be to route the payment via them, rather than direct to the selling agent.
What I'm after is suggestions for the most cost effective way of sending the cash - UK banks are beyond avaricious in their charges.
I've use XE Trade before and still have an account with them - they are very cheap for amounts up to around £1,000 or so, but after that their deal of 'mid market rate with zero charges' starts to look less attractive.
Anyone got any personal experience of this sort of transaction?
Barclays Bank transferred £125,000 to a foreign bank for me by Bank Transfer. It cost £25. Never send to selling agents. Straight to sellers solicitors Client Account.
I don't have any personal experience but I`ve just done a search on a work Facebook group (where a lot of people don`t live in the UK) and the name that came up nearly every time was Transferwise
I do this all the time, send me your account details, sort code, account number, three digit security code. Any relevant passwords. Would you like a throwayay email addy.
