MIL has taken out insurance with several providers that all cover the same thing.
Whilst tryitto sort out her financial crisis this has all come to light, she is stating that they phoned her up claiming to have purchased her insurance and asked her to set up a DD which of course she did.
As she is already covered elsewhere is there anything we can do to cancel this as they are refusing to let her cancel it!
Tell each of them she is a 'vulnerable customer'. They have to have special processes for dealing with vulnerable customers.
Were they set up fraudulently?
I don't understand "claiming to have purchased her insurance". Did you mean "claiming she had purchased it" as I can't see how a company could have purchased her insurance.
She can cancel the DDs if monthly but and can cancel insurance midterm but not get much back- unless she can show it was fraud or clearly the mistake of a vulnerable customer that they should have picked up
I have cancelled 3 extra insurance sorted out a boiler insurance and a medical company that sold her over a 100 quid of pain relief tablet.
When asked why do you keep giving them money she replies they asked
FF thank you she states they phoned up claiming to have purchased her insurance policy from nationwide and that it was now time to renew it.
Not sure if I believe it but that is what she is claiming
Ignore teacake who is making assumptions that these companies are sharks. If tackled properly they will refund her unless it was fraud when you may find the insurers have disappeared
What kind of insurances are they? Have you got the documents including cancellation instructions? I don’t think you can just set up dd’s over the phone, at least you can’t with my bank so is there any paperwork? Is there any way this could be a scam?
You say several insurances- does that mean several companies claimed to have taken it over from Nationwide?
If there was a phone call they must have a voice recording.
It all sounds a bit odd to me
I have found the policy weirdly their call centre is only open 10-4 cancellation must be done in writing so I sent them an email, they have responded that they cannot accept emails or a cancellation as it’s after the 14 days
Rockrose that’s a scam, i got someone trying that on saying they had purchased my sky insurance and wanting a payment over the phone as otherwise my insurance would be cancelled. I am assuming that you are getting a POA sorted?
Certainly in how to spell "you're", teacake. If you are giving financial advice make sure it's sensible. Just making silly broadbrush statements about companies beings sharks doesn't help anyone. It's not Chatterbank.
stopping DDs may not work - they may be CPAs (especially if they were done over the phone)
I'm finding it a bit difficult to understand - what exactly are the insurances for?
Ok first insurance is for emergency accommodations and repairs which is obviously covered by her home insurance.
Then she claims that a man turned up to service her boiler saying they have bought that contract British Gas so she signed up with them!
Washing machine was the same to policy on the go
