Supporting Charity

Are there any charities that you WONT support?
Talking with a work colleague today about various charities and the constant bombardment of tv adds, chuggers etc all trying to get our (financial) support etc.
We would all like to help out where we can but we cant support every charity that asks.
But, are there any charities that you WOULDNT give to?

Just curious as to why you wouldn't give?
Got a couple myself that I am loath to do so.

RSPCA, Oxfam.

I love animals almost as much as humans (in some cases more so) but I will never give to the RSPCA. They have pots of money but won't spend it in the right places.

Macmillan. They speak as though everybody can get access to them but in my experience that was not true, it depends who your local health service have a contract with.

I am talking only about charities that are properly registered as charities. There are many unregistered animal rescue and rehoming charities who present themselves as charitable organisations but who are not.

Woof, McMillan is one of the charities that I wont give to either...but for different reasons.

RSPCA often get an (understandably at times) bad rap on here. But as someone who has worked for them in the past, I can say that most, if not all, of the inspectors share the same sentiments. They do the job because they love animals but get tied up in red tape and beaurocracy.

Help for Heroes, any other charities linked to the British Army, Samaritans, any charity linked to a religion, any charity supportive of Israel, etc, etc.

Yes he is (and I've seen it before) but please let's have some honesty here - a newbie/non-moderator or Joe Bloggs would have had that reported and removed.

Most Charity boxes will get a donation from me if I have some change.

Any longer term commitment is limited.

I take part in 20+ quizzes for various Charities each month, so my input in spread small but wide.

There are a few I have fallen out with over the years.

Still curious to know about how Chris's mind works tho. Find him so helpful and cant quiet equate posts like this with the Chris that we all know and love...
