Just a quickie ...

[ nb bought from Irish stores and prices in €€ - but should be in UK too and the ££ prices will be rather less than the €€ I think ]

1. Lidl - Baturrica Reserva 2015 - a cab sauv and tempranillo blend from Tarragona - €6.99

Fantastic value for a genuinely oak aged red with loads of cherry and spicy flavours - good with Lasagne and even an Autumn BBQ

2. Lidl - Valpolicella Superiore 2016 - the real deal and a snip at €5.99

Probably the best Italian for its price around at the moment (certainly over here in Ireland) - not too sweet, full of complex fruit and great with a Roast Dinner

3. Aldi - Iron Horse - Barossa Shiraz - €9.99

If you are partial to a big Australian, then look no further - a serious wine for serious drinking - try it with Roast Game or even as a treat with your post prandial cheeses and biscuits, instead of port.

Bottoms Up and keep smiling ... it confuses the opposition.

Cheers, Dave. I might ask his nibbs to grab a bottle of the Valpolicella on his way back from the tip. What % is it? x
Morrisons "Myton Hill" Chardonnay. 13%, £3.89 75 cl, lovely.

12% LadyCG - and none the worse for that - the trend towards 13.5%, or even 14%, being the norm is not always a good one.
One of the Doctors at work bought me a beautiful Valpolicella and that was only 12%. It was so smooth. I wish I could remember of it.
