Dates On Cvs

Having gone through all my papers, I’ve just realised I don’t have a copy of my CV. Not intending on moving jobs in the near future but I’d like to have one typed up just so I know I’ve got one to hand. I’ve been in my current job over 25 years and know my start date. I had three other jobs before that but honestly can’t remember the dates (even the years) that I worked in those places. Not even sure how long I was there for each one as it’s so long ago.

So how do I get around this on my CV. I know it’s not on any job website (it was still old school last time I applied for a job) so not sure what to do.

Holding a job down for 25 years, would be enough of a recommendation for your next employer I would think, if it ever happens you move on. They don't really want anyone that's on the move every 12 months. ;0)

Well I did kind of think 20 odd years shows good standing, never mind what I did before lol.

NO ONE is going to be even remotely interested in what you did over 25 years ago (unless you are applying to 'The Secret Service' or similar! )

I'd just guess. Unless it's for a very sensitive job, nobody's going to be checking what you did back in the last millennium.

As you're not about to submit it, you might find details of past jobs coming back to you - you started one just after seeing Terminator 2, something like that.

20 years can show loyalty and no wave making. Could show lack of ambition, get up and go. Might be a good idea to highlight the different benefits and experiences to and in the company overvthe years to show your value and involvement.

I can remember all the dates-but I have spotted some real date typos on a couple of past CVs/application forms but if anyone had noticed it didn't stop me getting the job. Certainly for dates going back over 25 years I wouldn't worry- there's a good chance the old employer no longer exists or no-one there would be able to give a reference

If I can't remember a date I think back to either the music I was listening to at the time or the friends I had or the football results at the time, and that helps we work out the date

I do a LOT of interviews, and the fact you've been in the same job for the past 25 years would be good enough for me. I wouldn't care less about what you did over a quarter of a century ago.
