This happened to me once but luckily it was only for an item which cost me 5. I emailed the seller first several times and then I reported it to Ebay who investigated it for me. Unfortunately the seller was no longer registered by that time. Good luck it can be so frustrating. In future remember to only buy from sellers with loads of good feedback
Only if you can trace the seller, when you have the same rights as if you had purchased them any non-ebay way.

Bloodycheap - we meet again!!! Hope you're teeth are ok now!

I would never advise anyone to pay by bank transfer - Paypal is much safer.

However, as happy_face says, the best thing to do is report them to ebay.

Log into 'my ebay' and choose the option in related links of 'safety centre'.

Then you can report and get ebay to investigate - they give the seller a certain period of time to respond.

Good luck.

The person in question had a 100% feedback with 60. Since the sale was processed it now states they are "no longer a registered user" I was maybe hoping the bank I sent it to could help, but I don't know. It was only for 6 but it's the principle more than anything. I hate scams and dishonesty.
I have the same sort of problem - ordered goods and rec'd item - but it was so bad that returned the item - by recorded delivery with the promise from the seller that I would receive a refund. Have called - spoken - written to the seller and she will not return my money - eBay are no help at all - saying that it is best to 'talk' to the seller - and sort it out as it is not a case of 'not rec'd goods' - she did have good feedback at the time.
