How To End My Suffering?

I am 21. I live in Hungary. It is a pretty corrupt, poor and rotten country. I live in one of the worst towns, in a pretty bad quality apartment. I am on the second floor, and on the first (ground) floor, there is a butcher shop. The noises that it makes every day from 4 AM to 4 PM are so nervracking that are make the aparment literally unliveable. Combined with the Soviet Union times wall quality, you hear everything like it happens right next to you. I am struggling. It makes my everyday as I am in the centre of hell. There is no legal way to get them out and there is no money to move to a rented apartment inside the country. I am a university student (universities are free here), I hope I will graduate approximately on the next year's summer. But the problem is that I cheated every second of it, so I have no real knowledge of my "profession". Without a university degree, you can only earn 380 pounds per month (that is the country avarage salary). With university degree, it can go up to 550-600, but those are rare cases and requires good knowledge (like IT experts). A rent (with food and bills) starts from 450 pound per month (450 is the cheapest way to live). Because of this inbalance of prices, there is no way to just move on my own. I would love to leave this country to the west, but everywhere in West-Europe is similarly expensive to live, like in the UK. I would have to work years without spending anything, just to save money for a move to west. What would you advice me to do?

Hungary is in the EUSSR, that means you can legally go and live in any country. Try one of the richer ones??

apologies, I should have read your whole post. When the covid madness is over, get some camping gear, move to somewhere warm get a job in a bar to start with, take it from there.

Yes, it is in the EU, but I need a lot of money to move from a poor country to a richer one. As i wrote before, I would have to work years without spending a penny just to save money. And I am starting from 0 since I don't have any money. I will go mad and I will lose my remaining bare mind if I have to stay in this apartment for years before moving.

i can't advise but the UK is very expensive to live in especially here in the capital.

what do other people in Hungary do?

You are allowed to move where you want withing the European Union. You are 21 with your life in front of you, get on a bus and go find a new country and a new job -take any job offered: cleaning, labouring etc until you can get established. Then, in time, think about going back to University, doing something you enjoy and finance it through your work if you want to. Never say 'I' Can't, because you are self-limiting - say 'I'll try' -better to try and fail than have regrets later in life.

Other people in my age basically live in rented apartments with 3-4 other people, like herrings. But I don't have friends with such interests. The other way is to get a loan, buy myself an apartment/house and be the "slave" of the bank for the rest of my life.

Bit like London but London will be far more expensive

I live with my mother and my little sister (she is 11). My mother is the only one with income, about 330 pound/month. We live month by month, because on the end of the month we have zero money. The apartment is ours. My father left us, I can't go there where he lives.

Can you not get a part time job to help boost the family income? Your family may be able to move to a better apartment then. Many students here in the UK have to work. This isn't a land of milk and honey.

good point, a part time job may mean you can move to a better apartment, also will perhaps make some friends along the way.

I can get a job in a factory, a fast food restaurant or in a supermarket as a student worker for around 170-190 pounds per month. The problem is that my family don't want to move. As much as they hate the situation, they hate moving and they want to stay. My mother planning to stay here for the rest of her life. I know that west europe is not the land of milk and honey, but definietly better than this.

i know you are having problems, but maybe a part time job in a bar, you could make some new friends, and find a better apartment, if your mother doesn't want to move then you need to. Sadly the expense of living in London is beyond many, and someone without skills is going to find it very tough going. Many people with good skills find it hard to live here..

If so you have an invaluable asset that will get you far.

Liszi -my son 19 is a Uni and lives in an apartment with 7 others! it's what you do when you are young -what do you expect? you live with your family you are not exactly on the streets -you can speak/write English well you should be able to get work fairly easily. What do you want? You are coming across as a bit 'spoilt' to be honest, things don't come to you ,you have to make difficult decisions sometimes if you want to get on in life. You should not be thinking about buying property at your age -leave home, make your own way in life and stop giving yourself excuses not to.

I didn't think about London, but maybe a little town in Scandinavia or Germany (even though I don't speak the language). They are expensive too but maybe less than a capitaly city.

Work hard for the next 18 months and get your degree. A paper qualification will help you get a decent job, employers will not expect you to be an expert from day 1 - you will learn & gain experience as you go along.
