Can I claim back tax paid on savings?

I have just been taxed by my bank on my savings, I have just found out that i can fill in a form if i am eligible to have tax paid gross (which i am) so when i fill out this R85 form will i be able to claim the tax back that was taken from my interest awarded on 1st Jan this year?

The R85 does not act retrospectively. However, you can use form R40 to reclaim tax paid in previous (up to 6?)tax years.
