I have a young fox continually standing at my back door, for days now, he seems very hungry and has started eating my plastic mat outside... how can l get rid of him? Obviously l don't want to harm him, but l don't think he has learnt how to hunt for food... would throwing water close to him (but not on him): help?

At the moment every time he comes to the door l am throwing water close to him and he runs away, hopefully he will get the message and bother someone else ...
