Someone helped me last year with this and I wrote down how to do it but still cannot work it out!
I have a ringtone I have used for years and it is in 'music' in File Mgr on my phone. I am trying to get it to show in the list of sound options under ringtones so that I can change the default sound I have at the moment but....how to I get to add it to the Ringtone list on my phone please?
When I click on it in File Mgr on the phone there are all sorts of options like 'move' etc but cannot work out what to do - it seemed simple last time an I was able to add it to the ringtone list (think I pressed + in list) and it appeared at bottom of the list of available sounds?
Thanks everyone

in the file system find the music file then select it (long press so it gets a tick) then select copy. Then got back and find "ring tones" under device storage and select then past in. It will then be in your list of ring tones. You can do all this much easier by plugging the phone in to your pc and using the file system there.
Thanks everyone.
Tora Tora Tora I did it your way and it worked immediately so now have correct ringtonr for my incoming calls but......on my old phone I had a separate sound for incoming emails plus another for SMS!
There is another sound set up and this says it is for notifications? Will that sound also sound for SMS like it did on my old phone and if so where is the email sound which was TA DA before.
Thank you - brilliant so far

under "notifications" for the app concerned just pick the sound you want, it also uses the "ringtones" folder so put any tunes or sounds in there, you can add any sound effects you like from on line sound libraries, eg:

ToraToraTora and everyone else who helped - thanks so much! Everything is now sorted and sounds working correctly.
It was my fault entirely when setting up. I went back thru set up and found that I had clicked on a setting which stopped all sounds except phone (some sort of sleep mode}.
I unticked all these boxes and sounds reappeared!!
