British Couple In Their 70S Arrested By Taliban

The couple have been running training projects in Afghanistan for 18 years and their daughter, who together with her siblings has written a letter to the Taliban pleading with them to release their parents, told the BBC she had not heard from her parents in more than two weeks.

It is not known exactly what the couple were arrested for but projects run by them include one training mothers and children, which had apparently been approved by the local authorities despite a ban by the Taliban on women working and on education for girls older than the age of 12.

The Foreign Office is aware two British nationals have been detained in Afghanistan. But assistance is limited by the fact that the UK does not recognise the Taliban and has no embassy in Kabul.

I don't hold out much hope for their safety or for their return - but just where would one address a letter to the Taliban?

Wherever it goes, it'll have to be written by a man.

They had the audacity to educate women, didn't they ?

Well, no wonder then.

One would write to one's MP.  They speak to the government, the government contacts the Taliban.

The Taliban. Akhbar Alley, Wimminarbad, Afghanistan.

Not Londonistan then ?

No, OG, that address is only for their fundraising operation.

It's like a letter to Santa Claus. It gets there somehow.

I think anyone that goes to these dangerous countries is asking for trouble to be honest.

Wherever it goes, it'll have to be written by a man.

These are well meaning fools. I applaud their endeavour but despair at their niavety.

Well what can one say apart from when will these naive liberals learn?

I would say they are probably MI5 operatives, but how seeing my last posting on the pair of"tourists"in Iran was removed PDQ just because i suggested they might be British spies,i wont be saying this couple out in Afghanistan are a pair of MI5 operatives.

That's a turn up for the book, the teachers getting put in detention.

they knew the score

has tow haired bojo put his foot in it yet ?
