I've got to deliver a series of presentations at work tomorrow and I'm so nervous! I always go bright red and feel I'm a gibbering wreck! Can anyone offer any advice or techniques urgently!

I have only 1 piece of advice that my mum told me about as i could not get up in school to read out my essay i was a jibbering wreck and it worked all you do is imagine that everyone in the room is naked you might even get a chuckle out of it! GOOD LUCK

Breathe deeply before you start.


Hold the lectern/desk - it helps to stop your legs shaking.


Speak slowly.

I did it and it wasnt nearly as bad as I thought, even though I had a really tough crowd.

Jennifer, I only just saw your question and the answers. Can I just add a few words: now that you've done it, and it went okay, spend a little time reviewing the good bits, i.e. you got some good reactions from your audience at times, I'm sure, and against all your expectations you found yourself relaxing, and you probably enjoyed hearing some applause at the end too.


Now, relive those good moments, and amplify the feelings that they gave rise to. Imagine the audience really smiling and looking interested, imagine riotous applause, imagine being warmly congratulated when it was over... and make all the 'positives' brighter, louder, and more vivid. What you're doing when you do this is associating good, positive feelings with the whole presentation scenario, and next time you might find yourself looking forward to it instead of dreading it.
