Don't think so. A mortgage is a secured loan. If you are not the owner of the property there is nothing to secure the loan on.
I assume you mean, can you get a mortgage which takes into account two person's salaries but only have one name on it.

This is exactly what my sister-in-law and husband done (for reasons I won't go into). So yes, it can be done.
Yes, I've got a joint mortgage but only my name is on the deeds.
Im am intrigued as to how that works craftykaz ... perhaps someone else could answer too, how is your joint mortgagee protected then if they are not on the title as from what I can see they owe money for something that is not even theirs and could end up possibly lumbered with the lot if you didn't pay and with no security of equity in the property ???

Obonio's situation doesnt sound like a joint mortgage at all, rather a single mortgage where the lender has been generous in the amount he will lend. No problems at all with that, but it's not the question OP asked, though it may be what he meant to ask.

Kraftykaz sounds more intriguing. I really don't understand how someone can take out a mortgage on a property they don't own. What security are they offering? What bit of information has been left out that would make sense of this?

Hi my gran lived in a property where she was the only name on the house deeds, but her son was the only name on the mortgage who did not live at the property and he paid it to receive the property upon death?
