No they can't.

But beware, the plaintiff can seek a warrant of excecution if you do not pay the debt. This could mean bailiffs visiting you. Either pay up or agree a time to pay deal with the plaintiff or ask the court to help.
They can also ask for an "attachement of earnings" order which ould involve your employer deducting money from your pay packet (very embarressing)
They have the ability to have your account frozen with a court order so that once you have the money in your account it is sent to them. If you want to withdraw your money you need to get permission from the courts but they will usually let you withdraw up to 500 a week for living etc. But only if they have the court order in the first place.
Hi. Reiterating. Freezing of bank accounts or any other assets can olny be made by the court - this used to be called a 'mareva injunction' (name os a case) but since the Lord Wolfe reforms, is known as something else - not sure what sorry - but I know it is simple.
Hope this helps and puts your mind at ease.
Good luck
Steve
