Whilst it's not so hard to get yourself in to a pub after liscensing, etc it is a lot harder to not only keep enough trade to pay bils, and huge brewery fees but you can't guarantee yourself a salary of any kind. Not trying to put you off, but you do need to be 110% sure you want to do that and do your homework before you sign anything.
I think you need to look at the reality of this profession. Pubs in general are closing down in their droves. people dont use them anymore. I know of a few guys who had a go and ended up bankrupt. The profit making pubs are very rarely for sale so the only advice I would give you is to do your research first. But you need to ask yourself this question. Why should someone leave their house/flat with all their home comforts to pay inflated prices at the pub!
there is a pub local to me........its a bit of a dive, however, it got took over by a local couple about 2 years ago.......... the brewery gave them reduced rent for a while, but there likeable attitude and bright ideas have turned this dump of a pub into a profit making business!!
also, may i add, he still has a full time job aswell so it is not no1 income??
