Hey stylinsam, i was in a similar position so i got myself a part time job aswell. It's casual so i can work when i want but the extra money really helps. Have you also considered changing jobs to one that pays better?

It does depend on your skills, your commitments, and your free time.

What about ironing? I always suggest this - you can do it from home at flexible times, and if you can collect and deliver, you will find a ready market.

Advertise locally, work by the hour say 5.00 - 6.00, extra for collection and delivery.

if you are a crafty (in the arty sense not the sly sense) you can make things to sell at boot sales. A friend of mine started making and selling bird feeders, made from drift wood and then gravitated to bespoke bathroom cabinets (basically cheap box cabinets that he attached mirrors and bits of drift wood, netting, shells etc. etc. All a bit kitch but he always leaves the boot sales with empty hands and full pockets. He tours the many sales in his area and people always look forward to him comming. He regularly makes 150 to 200 quid for a days trading.
Unsure whether you're male or female & whether this would make any difference to the type of casual work you might be prepared to entertain, but how about bar work/waitressing, domestic cleaning, gardening, lawn mowing. Office cleaning companies also need staff to work evenings or very early mornings as that is the only time they can access the offices. Also, do you live in your own property and have a spare bedroom you could rent out? Also some insurance brokers are open in the evenings for people who want to insure their cars, etc. out of office hours, and they may be looking for administrative staff.

I know this is very common

Hi stylinsam, are you paid in cash weekly?

If you are a great way to save is, if you are paid on a friday, open your pay packet on the friday the first week, the next week on a Saturday, the next on Sunday and so on, after six weeks you have two wage packets I used to do this it's a great way of saving, otherwise set up a direct debit into a regular saver account you will soon get used to it, Good luck. Ray

The best money for old rope job I ever had was as a bar maid in a local posh golf club that had a lot of other Golf Societies come to play on an invitation only basis. I discovered it by accident. I had the interview and all was well but I nearly fell over when I opened my first summer wage packet! The guests had an entertainment charge built into their day and this was divided by the number of staff who had served them during the day. I was paid 180 quid for about twenty hours work this was in the late eighties. needless to say I stayed right up until I got married and wanted to spend weekends at home.
