Hi,

My husband and I were talking last night about how we both had Barclays supersavers accounts when we were young (as we wanted to feel grown up with a chequebook!).We don't remember ever closing these accounts. Is there a way of finding out if we left any money in them? Obviously we have no account numbers or anything.

Go Here and scroll down a bit, you will see a leaflet about dormant bank accounts. Fill it in as far as you can and then send it off, they will then try and trace any accounts for you.

Barclays will have written any balance off years ago but they send the funds to a central account to 'hold' in case anyone ever claims it.

Thanks for that!
I've just contacted the abbey about a saver account I had in the 70's (when it was Abbey National) and lost track of. They have just sent me details of the account number and a change of address form to re claim the account. After a certain period of time banks etc sometimes pass on unclaimed/unused accounts to the government. I've no idea what they do with it, but you can have it back at any time.
