I jointly own with my husband, a detached cottage with an attached one bedroom self-contained annexe.

My husband has decided he wants a divorce & as I cannot afford to buy him out of the property, we need to sell.

I would like to have the option of renting the annexe only as I would not need the whole cottage.

I understand this Company allow you to rent the property once they have purchased it but I'm wondering if it would have to be the whole property or whether they would allow me to sub-let the cottage.

Has anyone any experience of selling, then renting the property with this Company & if so, is the rental charge reasonable?

Does anyone know any other way to go about it?

You have posted another question above, all I can say is do not sell or do anything until you have seen that solictitor !

I don't know anything about the renting bit, but I believe National Homebuyers have a bit of a reputation for leaving disgruntled people who they find they have sold their property to them for much less than the market value. I know you can say that they should have checked first but sometimes people - particularly if they are in the sort of stressful situation you are - don't do that.

I fully endorse the previous post - don't do anything without getting legal advice. On your low income it is possible you might get legal aid - try to find a family law solicitor who has a legal aid franchise and check this.
