Your debts on the other hand remain with you only when you come out you've even less means of paying them off. The moral ofcourse is try not to get banged up. If you happen to be a drug dealer, inject yourself with a lethal dose of heroin and save the tax payer the expense of keeping you in prison. At least then your assets would pay for something useful - like your funeral!
Surely our ever-helpful government has some sort of scheme for paying off convicted prisioner's debts? If not, I think they ought to.
Doesn't having these debts hanging over them whilst in prision constitute cruel or unusual punishment? It must be a terrible physcological burden that could scar them for years afterwards.
