How to identify offshore accounts
6 Answers
I want to accept UK payments but not from offshore accounts. How do I indentify offshore bank accounts - I only have sort code and account number to go on.
Thanks

No offence taken and of course it is your right not to accept payment from anyone you choose. (Although it's a shame for the people who actually live offshore in Jersey/Guernsey/IOM and have no choice but to hold accounts there).
In answer to your questions, UK offshore accounts in sterling are exactly the same as the ones down your local highstreet. They use sortcodes which can be found in a sortcode book (updated yearly) and you can presumably purchase it online.
There is no way to identify them apart from sort code as they utilise 8 digit account numbers and 6 digit sort codes as normal.
