Funeral payments

My father died recently and had mentioned that he had paid for his funeral he had not made any arrangements with undertakers locally. What I think he may have done is either converted an old policy or made an arrangement with an insurance company that cost would be covered on his death. I am unable to find any policies or details any ideas would be most welcome.
