Running Rich

I have a mk3 fiesta and it seems to be running rich it goes through spark plugs quick and i dont no if this can be fixed because it has an ECU which i thought controls verything properly is there and way i can stop it running rich? p.s the car is a project car it doesnt get drove could ths be why also it bogs really badly

What do you mean it gets through spark plugs quick? If your car is running rich you will see a black carbon deposit on the plugs and usually black smoke from the exhaust upon heavy acceleration. Running rich is the rsult of too much petrol being pumped into the cylinders. Could be a faulty sensor (lambda, temp etc) which causes the ECU to miscalculate. Most garages will be able to run a diagnoastic for you to see if any of the sensors are out. Might well benefit from a service and a check of breather pipes for leaks/blockages etc.
