My university department advises all students to use Epson printers - the halls of residence are full of them.
The price of compatible cartridges for the older Epson models are very cheap. Even their "chipped" cartridges are cheap compared to other makes.
I could obtain some very expensive inkjet printers and colour laser printers if I wanted and could have them installed in my home tomorrow free of charge. They can keep them as far as I'm concerned, as for the last eight years, I've been using an Epson Stylus Colour 600 and I've been buying my own compatible cartidges for around 7.00 a set (colour and black cartridges).
They can't be beaten.
The colour laser printer I had installed at home a year ago has a current list price of over 1000. I never use it, preferring my Epson 600 every time.
