I hope to be starting full time work next week, and was told at my last meeting with NDLP advisor that because i will come off income support they will help out with a one off payment, and also some xtra money for a year, to help with the transition, and a months morgage relief. Dont take my word on this at mo, i will find out on Mon if its true, and let you know. But do go on website it does tell you what you could be entitled to. Good luck to you.
Hi again whyme. Yes last time I went to my advisor she told me how much better off I would be if I worked the min 16 hrs a week. Not easy to find a job with 16 hrs!. She also mentioned the one off payment, though I think its all changing soon. Also help with mortgage interest for a month.
Good luck with your job next week. I feel a different person getting back into work again. Juggling with the kids has been hard. But the self esteem.... its worth it. Let me know how you get on. Good luck.

You should contact the Tax Credit Helpline as soon as you start work to notify them of your change of circumstances. You may be entitled to Working Tax Credit as well as the Child Tax Credit you are presumably already getting, but it depends on what your income will be. If you earn enough (extremely unlikely) you might not be entitled.
If the children are being looked after by approved or registered childminders you can claim a childcare allowance as well.
