family allowance for students

will i still get family allowance for my 18 yr old when she goes to uni or should i have informed the dss that she is moving out???

It's not just your daughter's address which is the important factor but also the nature of her studies. If she'd beeen continuing with 'full-time non-advanced education (A level or equivalent)' by, for example, staying on for an extra year in the 6th form or at an FE college, you would have continued to receive child benefit until she was 19 (or, some circumstances, 20).

However, child benefit is not payable in respect of students undertaking Higher Education courses (irrespective of whether they live at home or not). Your entitlement to receive child benefit ceased as soon as your daughter completed her A-level studies.
