Is it a persons name who get's blacklisted or the address that they are living in?

I am renting a property and the last two tenants obviously owe a great deal of money and have not had mail redirection - so I return to sender what I receive. Some is obviously "hate mail" and I have had official people knock my door asking if I was "Mrs X" and I am sure one was a bailiff.

I can handle all that but I do wonder if on experian and the like, that my address may be blacked which may affect me should I ever need to purchase anything (and I have a good credit rating) is it a name or simply an address that gets you on the blacklist with people?

Don't worry flubber, it is the person that gets a bad credit score and not those living in an associated property (there is actually no "blacklist"). If you do get worried it costs a couple of quid to get your credit file from Experian/Equifax.
Its the combination of address and name that forms the credit record. That's why they ask for previous address on credit applications when you have'nt lived where you live for 3 years.
The only reason there may be a problem is if you happen to have the same surname and there could be seen to be some kind of association between you. Other than that, no probs as pumpsticks said.

Thank you all for your replies - I can relax now.
You can no longer be "BLACKLISTED", In thse politically correct times you must refer to it by a name which does not upset anyone.
