Which banking system is used extensively by british government departments.

I think it's BACS but it must be very inefficient as the Govt. sure loses and wastes a lot of taxpayers money !
Well I know they used to use Barclays, although unsure if they still do. BACS isn't bad way of making payments and as far as I know its free, compared to using CHAPS which carries a charge. I don't think blaming the BACS system will account for the massive tax gap, and the fact that benefit frauds and tax cheats con the Govt out of millions of pounds a year !
