I would like to buy and run a Bed and Breakfast, which will also be our home. Can you tell me who we speak to to advise us how to go about it or even if we would be able to do it? As it will be our home as well, will we have to have a mortage, so a certain amount of our 'own money' goes towards the purchase of the property? A little guidance would be a great help!

Firstly, unless you are prepared to work around 16 hours a day and divorce your partner, I really wouldn't recommend this trade.

I live in Great Yarmouth and there are loads of B&Bs for sale and lots of failing businesses. I also work in the commercial finance industry and know a lot of these do not run at much of a profit.

If you are really, really keen on the idea, post back and I will give you some advise (what part of the country are you looking at), but my first thoughts are: Don't do it!
There is some good, initial information here:

There are several pages and covers most aspects of starting up a bed and breakfast.

thanks for your replies. yes i am interested. Somewhere in the surrounding area of Cambridge (not city centre) or Newmarket. Both are close to where I live now and I think would be a good option.
