If I am renting a property at and average of about 300 a month, how much council tax would I have to pay roughly?

Your council tax bills bears no relation at all to your rental cost. It is set by the market value of the property in 1991. To find out what your bill will be you will have to ask your landlord what band the property is in and then see what the local council charges for that band.
It has nothing to do with the amount of rent you pay!
I think you can go online and put in your poastcode and it will check what bandwidth you are in to tell you how much you will be paying.
