My mum went to apply to get a sofa on credit but it was rejected.how do i find out if our address has been blacklisted and who is responsible

Try www.equifax.co.uk and www.experian.co.uk.

It will not be the address that will be black listed more likely to be someone associated to the property. Your mum will need to disassociate herself with this person as long as she doesnt have joint responsibility for the debts that are causing the problem.

Its also a good idea to check she is on the register of electors, some lenders will refuse at the first hurdle if she is not registered to vote at the address.
