Can I pay my own funeral costs
6 Answers
Can I pay them out of my will, or in advance before I die, or do my family have to pay first? I want them to give me a budget funeral and the rest of money to Charity. I donlt want them to have to pay, or to feel obliged to spend more than I'd like. Thanks in advance.

My brother is terminally ill and he's arranged his own funeral with the Co-Op. The two options they gave him were to make all the arrangements and pay for it and even if he lives for years and years there will be no more to pay. The 2nd option is to buy vouchers towards his funeral in multiples of 100, and they immediately give you half the value back in vouchers to spend on non food items at ay Co-Op store. He's gone for the first option and arranged the lot, including choice of coffin, vicar, hymns etc. He did it because he's married with 2 young children and he didn't want his wife to have to deal with the hassle of arranging and financing the funeral.
I'm writing my will soon so thought I'd consider other deathly things too. Plus I have recently moved to a village which has a really bad road to work, so my life expectancy has fallen a little. People die there every year and I saw a 3 car crash when coming home 2 nights ago so I just thought maybe I should out things in order. I'm 34 next week but you never know.
