I have a number of shares - mostly windfalls when companies have merged etc. Most of these are shown as 10p shares or 25p shares etc. What does this mean please?
e.g. I have 199 Aviva 25p shares - does this mean i have 199 x 25p. or 199 at current value?
Please help a novice?

The 10p, 25p, etc, doesn't really mean very much - it's the 'nominal value' which is what they were worth (in theory anyway) when they were first issued.

You have 199 shares that are worth their current market value - 8.43 odd each yesterday
