House and mortgage transfer to ex wife
3 Answers
My boyfriend wishes to transfer his house and joint mortgage to his ex wife as part of the divorce settlement. Is it just a case of signing it over or do the mortgage company want to know she can afford the repayments with her work, and possibly refuse the transfer? As the mortgage is probably too high for her to be able to borrow on the strength of her earnings. Or is it different in divorce cases and he can just sign it over??? Any help appreciated.

I no many freinds who did what you are doing years ago and signed the house over to cover maintance payments for children for the rest of there lifes.
Only to be chased by the child agency and had to pay again because nothing was written up.
Plus know one knows what could happen in the future

I don't think it's as simple as just signing it over the mortgage. I've got the feeling before that it's a lot more complicated than that. It might help to speak to a financial advisor so you can get proper legal advice. National Guarantee seems to deal with a lot of these cases so you might find some help there: http://www.nationalguarantee.co.uk/resources.a sp
