I opened up a debit card account 2 years ago with no overdraft facility however the back unknown to me let me get overdrawn by hundreads of pounds and i incured back charges what are the laws on this?

Are you saying that the Bank never sent you a statement or wrote to you about an unauthorised overdraft?

The law is that you need to repay it!

Nothing applicable, you clearly do not have control of your finances. You owe the bank, simple
how was the fact you were spending money (hundreds of pounds) unknown to you?surely you knew you were spending the money? If you get paid 100 pounds, and you spend 200, surely you know???!!!!??

Quite right everyone. Far too many people these days look to blame someone else for their own inability to keep tracks of their spending. Pay the bank the money and in future keep tabs on what you are spending whether it be cash or plastic card, If the money is not in the bank do not spend it.
