I am not in the stock market or a high flyer, just want to dabble. So I need an idiot-friendly broker or brokerage service. Any ideas?? Cheers Alison

They are not for buying and selling on a daily basis, but buying and then keeping for 5 or 10 years.
Generally shares go up over time, but they do have spectacular drops, so you have to be prepared to take these drops and then make your money over the long term.

Yes appreciate that vehelpfulguy. Most of my investments are long term (buy to let property, holiday rentals, ISA's, endowment policies) The shares I have already I have owned for 20 years so I reckon I have the staying power!! Its just that I want to buy shares in a foreign company and the broker I used for my last buy doesn't deal in one off sales for foreign companies. They would hold the shares for me and charge me for the privilege. Something I would rather not do. I also only invest what I can afford to lose without compromising my house etc. I am careering fast towards pension age so am working towards a life without money worries when I do eventually retire.
