Not sure if this is in the correct topic. ---- If a wife is receiving state pension, then her husband becomes of pensionable age, does the husband receive his own pension ( and his wife still receives hers ),or is a joint pension payment made to them ?
If it is state retirement pension based on contributions, woman @ 60 (at the moment) man @ 65, they receive individual pensions. If it is the means tested pension credits it is jointly paid to a couple. Only general info but hopes this helps.
If the wife has less than 60% of the basic rate then her basic pension is increased to this level
With pension credit it is in respect of both persons but one person has to claim it as under social security law overpayment's can only be recovered from the claimant
