I think I remember there being three dollars to the pound, but I can't remember when.
Can anyone help, my husband thinks not, I'd love to be proved right.

Well in the 1940's there were about $4 to the �. Not that I remember....
In 1948 one dollar cost just under 25p (in 'new' money for convenience) - 4 dollars to the pound.

Between 1950 and 1966 it was stable at around 35p - nearly three dollars to the pound.

In 1985 one dollar was 85p - as a comparison.
