We called at the services on the M1 yesterday and my OH decided to take some money out of the ATM. When it came to the screen which said 'you will be charged 1.99 for this transaction, would you like to cancel' he pressed the cancel button and got a receipt to say it had been cancelled (he threw this away!). I have just checked our bank online and the money has been taken out. What can we do please?

Has it actually been taken out or just 'reserved'? If the latter then it will disappear when the day's transactions are finalised.

If the former then complain to your bank. You'd find it a lot easier if he had kept the slip, but it should still be OK, eventually.

ALWAYS keep slips.
You have probably sorted this by now, but just wanted to say that the slip is irrelevant really, as if the transaction was cancelled then the proof will be that you did not take any money out!!! which easily proves to your bank that the 1.99 should not have been taken by the ATM machine and bank provider.
