Can you still freeze a mortgage???????
2 Answers
Hi all, I apologize in advance as this will probably become long-winded.
My husband and I are in the process of getting divorced.
I've left the house and am moving on, while he's stayed in the house which is up for sale. Our mortgage is 800 per month. A year ago I left my job (in which I earned a great deal more than my husband) to start my own business so money is tight however, my husband still has a well paid job.
Since I've left my husband has understandably I suppose decided he's only going to pay half the mortgage and council tax but will pay all utilities as he's the one living there.
My argument is that I am struggling to keep business afloat which I took on when our finances were secure so I can't afford to pay out the 500 a month as well as cost of living etc.
So I was wondering if there's anyway to freeze the mortgage untill the house is sold then use money left to pay off missed payments?
Hope that makes sense. Any help appreciated.

The mortgage is a joint and several agreement that binds you both to pay and you both to be liable for any action as a result of not paying.
The lender may accept a "payment holiday" for a short time. It really is best to speak to your lender in your situation as if they don't know what's going on they won't be able to offer a solution. These things are a million times better sorted before you have any difficulty paying.
